Archived: General Manager

The Poetry Society is one of the UK’s leading literature organisations, with innovative programmes that reach more than three million people annually. We’ve just completed an ambitious redevelopment of our Covent Garden venue and offices, and now we’re looking for an energetic and experienced General Manager to join our Senior Management Team, playing a key role in our future development.

The General Manager will be responsible for the overall operational and financial management of the organisation, including HR, overseeing our public spaces, and working closely with the Director on strategic planning and income generation to build our financial resilience.

Candidates will have senior-level experience within the arts or charity sector, with excellent skills in financial management, human resources, office, IT and digital systems. You’ll have a good commercial eye and be a great communicator, with experience of building new partnerships, liaison with boards, and developing funder relationships (including researching and reporting on funding bids).

You’ll be joining a friendly team who deliver a wide range of activities from publications, events and exhibitions to talent development and education programmes.

This is a full-time post (five days a week) but we will consider a four days per week appointment.
