Archived: Environment and Sustainability Manager

JOB CONTEXT

This role of Environment and Sustainability Manager will be a new addition to the department, working to improve environmental sustainability across the Gallery and to ensure that the Gallery meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities.

JOB PURPOSE

The Environment and Sustainability Manager will provide technical and professional specialist guidance and recommendations on environmental sustainability across the organisation and with our partner contractors.

This role will engage with all departments to set meaningful targets, supported by an internal and external communication plan, utilising an innovative approach to develop sustainable solutions in a collaborative and engaging way.

This role will lead on the development and delivery of the Gallery’s environmental sustainability policy and action plan, creating a culture of environmental sustainability which embodies the Gallery’s values and exemplifies our commitment to the future.

SCOPE OF JOB

  • The broad duties of the Environmental and Sustainability Manager will be:
  • Deliver the Gallery’s environmental sustainability policy and action plan
  • Work to achieve compliance with wider legislation and statutory compliance with alignment to Government reporting requirements, measurables and targets
  • Undertake carbon calculations and providing recommendations for innovations and improvements
  • Creation of a climate change risk assessment and climate change adaptation strategy
  • Monitor and audit progress, regularly reporting to senior stakeholders, including Executive Committee and the Board of Trustees
  • Deliver an effective internal and external sustainability communication plan
  • Provide departmental specific support, including setting individual project goals and targets
  • Develop business proposals which will explore new and pioneering opportunities for improving environmental sustainability
  • Keep up to date with best practice and environmental innovation, including benchmarking and wider networking
  • Ensure application and continued accreditation for the Gallery in relation to relevant standards
