This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the key artworks in the world, joining Tate’s Collection Care division in the new role of Art Handling Manager within the Collection Management department.

The department brings excellence and innovation to the care of Tate’s historic, contemporary and modern art collections. You will be responsible for the planning, management and development of Art Handling operations, which support the installation, movement and storage of art in Tate’s care.

You will manage the day to day operations of Tate’s art stores in London and Wiltshire and lead and direct the work of the Art Handling team, whose specialist art technician’s work across Tate’s London sites at Tate Britain and Tate Modern to facilitate Tate’s programme of acquisitions, exhibitions, displays, loans and international touring.

You will work with the Head of Collection Management in the strategic planning and leadership of the department and play a leading role in developing the art handling specialism.

To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in managing an Art Handling team or a large and complex operation, involving logistical, practical and technical activities. You will have excellent planning and project management skills. With a track record in leading high performing teams through change, you will understand the requirements of an inclusive culture. Your excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills will enable you to manage people, budgets and resources effectively.
