St Mary’s University, Twickenham are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Creative Director to oversee the development and operations of Richmond Borough’s newest community building in the centre of Twickenham. The facility comprises of a theatre, studio rooms, bar and conservatory area. The building will be used to host local arts, music and literature festival events, theatre performances, cinema showings, band nights, comedy nights, conference and event hire and academic tuition for St Mary’s students, local residents and local businesses. You will be responsible for creating an inspiring brand to attract visitors both from amongst St Mary’s student body and the local community. You will have challenging income targets to meet, but will be part of the broader, supportive St Mary’s family.

This newly created role will place you at the heart of the St Mary’s community where you will be contributing to a wide range of University activities and objectives, including building constructive and productive relationships with the local community. You will work with colleagues across the University and with members of the local community and the local Council. You will plan, implement, support and facilitate new initiatives ranging from student learning, events and cultural programmes and community arts activities, to creative and research outreach.

You will have experience of starting new initiatives, managing productions and events, be commercially astute and a creative problem solver. You will have a proven track record of successful collaborations, particularly within the cultural or artistic sector and experience of working with the general public whilst ensuring excellent quality customer service.

You will design a cultural strategy for the Centre, taking into account the needs of the local area as well as of the University, to create a vibrant and flourishing cultural centre, which will play an important part in the artistic life of the local community as well as creating new opportunities for St Mary’s students.
