Theatre Technician

£25,000 per annum

Full time, 40 hours per week, involving regular weekend and evening work

If you offer a wide range of technical theatre skills, this is a great opportunity to develop your experience in theatre production, working at an award-winning venue in Oxford.

This position is based at The North Wall Arts Centre, which is situated in the grounds of St Edward’s School. The venue houses a theatre, gallery and studios for Drama and Dance.

You will work alongside the Technical Manager and a second Theatre Technician, providing a very high standard of technical service to all incoming theatre companies, artists and hirers of the building.

You will be expected to provide technical support to productions and projects in development, as well as rehearsals, and possibly also support taking productions on tour and to festivals for certain periods of the year.

Your responsibilities will include setting up and operating lighting, sound and AV equipment, and props, as well as ensuring the basic maintenance of technical equipment.

Previous experience is not essential. However, you will need an understanding of and competence in technical theatre work, such as rigging and focusing lights, programming lighting boards, and basic lighting design and sound operation skills. You will also need familiarity with QLab software and basic stage craft.
