Archived: Trusts and Foundations Manager

As we continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic, we move forward with ambitious growth plans and targets, which is where our Development Department have a crucial role to play. With a fundraising target of over £6 million annually, of which over £1 million comes from Trusts and Foundations, our ambition is to raise £10 million annually by 2026, which is why we are looking for a Trusts and Foundations Manager, to develop and maintain an outstanding portfolio of trusts and statutory funders to support our ambitious plans.

Reporting to the Head of Grants and Trusts, you will work collaboratively with the Trust team to meet income targets for Trusts, Foundations and statutory fundraising, focusing on core revenue and fundraising for capital and strategically important projects from our sector leading digital innovation to establishing a national teaching centre.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (please see the main job description and person specification for the comprehensive list):

  • Preparing and writing completing applications to Trusts and Foundations and statutory funders with capacity to give five and six figure gifts to support the work of the RSC
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Trusts, Foundations and statutory funders, including Trustees, senior and administrative staff
  • Developing the prospect pipeline by identifying new Trust prospects, undertaking prospect research and creating effective cultivation and solicitation plans
  • Supporting the Senior Grants and Trusts Manager and Head of Grants and Trusts in preparing and writing large and complex six figure+ funding bids
  • Ensuring excellent stewardship of funders by sending timely and high-quality reports and updates, event invitations and arranging meetings, project visits and theatre tickets
  • Working with RSC Senior Leadership, Board members and Governors to steward existing high-level relationships with Trusts
  • Monitoring income from Trusts and Foundations to ensure targets are met
  • Assisting with and attending events and meetings

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • A demonstrable track-record in securing and managing five figures+ grants from trusts, foundations and / or statutory funders
  • The ability to write exceptional, accurate and compelling grant proposals
  • Experience in producing high-quality reports for funders
  • Skilled in managing and developing a portfolio of funders and meeting fundraising targets
  • Experienced in developing and building long-term donor relationships
  • Confident communication skills, someone who enjoys being part of a hard-working, results driven team
  • Proven experience of delivering consistently high levels of supporter care.

This role is offered on a full-time permanent contract, 35 hours per week and can be based in either our Stratford-upon-Avon or London offices.

The standard operating hours of the Development Department is Monday to Friday with team members working within 8am and 6pm, but, as a theatre company, the RSC operates in the evenings and weekends. Occasional work is required outside of normal working hours and on weekends when supporting on events.

The RSC’s Development Department comprises a 25-strong team, based in both London and Stratford-upon-Avon, working collaboratively to maximise income – specialising in the areas of Corporate Partnerships, International Education Partnerships, Trusts and Foundations, Major Gifts, Individual Giving and Events.
