Portsmouth Creates is a brand-new Community Interest Company, formed to help lead a culturally led regeneration of Portsmouth. We plan to develop the city’s creative and cultural industries and act as a conduit for the vast array of talent and potential that exists and we will deliver this through exciting new programmes of collaboration. Our goal is engaging new audiences and making culture and creativity accessible to everyone within the city. Ultimately, we want the outside world and those who call the city home, to recognise Portsmouth as a cultural city.

To lead us in the challenge, we are seeking to appoint a passionate and dynamic Chief Executive Officer to drive this vision forward and achieve great things within the city.

Supported by an enthusiastic and motivated new board of volunteer directors, the CEO will shape and develop Portsmouth Creates by initiating and nurturing a range of partnerships with new and existing cultural stakeholders, and both creative and business sectors of the city and the wider region.

The candidate will be somebody who is not afraid to cross boundaries in order to drive the vision forward and must share a genuine ambition to make Portsmouth a significant cultural player both nationally and internationally.

Our ideal candidate will have experience of leadership and strategic development at a senior level in a voluntary, commercial and/or public organisation, experience of managing strategy and budgets, extensive experience of fundraising

Portsmouth Creates has pledged to deliver its’ first major collaborative project to the people of the city ‘We Shine Portsmouth’ in 2020, Portsmouth’s first festival of light. The CEO will be responsible for brokering partnerships with new stakeholders and major organizations in order to obtain funding to bring this project to fruition, therefore, experience of funding applications and bid writing in addition to experience in leading major projects at a strategic level is essential.
