About the role

This is a rare opportunity for a confident, experienced and resourceful Associate Artist Manager to join Intermusica’s renowned Artist Management department. The successful candidate will primarily work alongside a leading and much-respected Artist Manager within the industry to support the management of one of the world’s finest and most sought-after artists. Therefore, we are seeking someone with first-class organisational skills, who is adept at working under pressure and managing the logistics involved with ever-changing schedules, overseas’ travel and high-profile engagements. An understanding of classical music is essential, as well as emotional maturity and the ability to develop excellent working relationships. This is a challenging, yet hugely rewarding role for the right candidate.

Core responsibilities

  • Manage the diaries of high-profile artists, liaising with a variety of external contacts (including promoters, venues, other artists and agents) to arrange logistical aspects of engagements
  • Under the close guidance of the Artist Manager, drive sales by producing sales materials, contacting promoters by phone/email/in person, negotiating fees and programmes, providing sales briefings to promote their roster. Represent Intermusica at meetings with promoters at home or abroad, and other sales-related tasks.
  • Oversee initial checking and prompt processing of contracts; negotiate contract changes as required; understand audio-visual rights, coordinate agreement of rights with recording companies if necessary.
  • Negotiate fees in the company’s and artists’ best interests (with guidance from Artist Manager)
  • Partner with the finance team to prepare financial paperwork (invoices, statements etc.) and to ensure prompt payments to artists and to Intermusica.
  • Support tax applications by initiating and/or assisting where necessary.
  • Manage travel and accommodation for artists including researching and booking trips, as well as processing visa and work permit arrangements as required.
  • Partner with Intermusica’s Communications & Marketing department on a variety of promotional materials, keeping clients’ pages on the company’s website up-to-date with concert listings, recordings, reviews etc.
  • Collaborate with record labels and/or PR agencies, to co-ordinate promotional activity.
  • Represent Intermusica at concerts and industry events, both in the UK and other countries.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of artists’ careers and the promoters that we deal with.
  • Organise (where required) travel/hotel/meetings/concert tickets for the Artist Manager.

Person Specification

You will be/have:

Essential:

  • Graduate calibre with significant administrative experience in a comparable field, ideally Artist Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with artists, promoters and colleagues, using tact and discretion at all levels
  • Resilient and calm under pressure, with the ability to multitask and deal with conflicting priorities in a frequently fast paced environment
  • An understanding of forward planning and skilled in managing scheduling challenges with prior experience of diary management and organising international travel
  • A team player who builds trust by being solutions-focused and accountable for their work
  • The ability to work to deadlines and an excellent eye for detail
  • A proactive team player who demonstrates a positive and flexible approach
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
  • A strong interest in and understanding of classical music, with the desire to learn new skills and expand your knowledge of the classical repertoire

Desired:

  • Fluent or proficient in a second language
  • Prior experience of Overture (agency software)
  • Prior experience of Concur (expense management service)
