£36,000 – £42,000 pa depending on experience

IMPACT Scotland is the charity behind the development and operation of the Dunard Centre, Edinburgh’s first purpose-built music and performance venue for over 100 years. We are now growing the team and looking for an outstanding Head of Communications to join the team in support of the project and in the run up to the opening of the Dunard Centre in 2025.

Main purpose:

To work closely with the development director and wider team to develop and deliver a communications campaign for IMPACT Scotland, the charitable trust building and fundraising for Edinburgh’s first new concert hall for 100 years.


  • To develop and manage a campaign in support of IMPACT’s fundraising and engagement activity; creating campaign messaging, digital assets and materials in support of the development strategy;
  • To support the organisation’s external affairs including;
    – To support the development of partnerships across public, private, cultural and community sectors;
    – Support with stakeholder management, liaison and reporting; including delivering in person updates to statutory funders, neighbours and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Work with construction project partners and consultants to create a campaign around key construction milestones;
  • Manage the organisation’s digital platforms including website and social media;
  • Promote pre-opening artistic and community programme activities as they develop;
  • Support the development director in cultivating and stewarding donors and supporters as required;
  • Support the procurement and management of PR, digital and brand agencies as/if required;
  • Routine media liaison as required;
  • Manage the CRM system to support organisational objectives and develop good practice for future audience development work.


Required experience:

  • A creative approach with a minimum of five years working in marketing communications
  • Experience of supporting fundraising through compelling, creative communications
  • Experience of delivering integrated communications on projects with a complex range of stakeholders
  • A passion for developing meaningful relationships with a range of stakeholders including through presenting to live and online audiences
  • Experience of managing digital platforms
  • Confident copywriter and print manager
  • Experience of managing external agencies
  • Enthusiasm for working in the arts
  • Enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial approach to working in a new organisation as it develops its plans for the future

Desired experience:

  • Experience of working on capital projects
  • Experience of working on a project where fundraising has been an organisational priority
  • Experience of working in the cultural sector
  • Experience of media management
  • Experience of the cultural and/or business sector in Edinburgh and Scotland
  • Experience of working with local and national government communications, and of public sector City Region Deal and/or grant management
