Colchester Art Gallery

Circa £35,000 per Annum

Firstsite is a contemporary visual arts organisation based in a stunning, award winning Gallery in Colchester, Essex.  Since opening in 2011, Firstsite has welcomed half a million visitors and established its reputation for being a Gallery of regional and national importance. With renewed support from the Arts Council England, and the Borough and County Councils, Firstsite is now very well positioned to build on that reputation and needs to appoint a number of exceptional individuals to help deliver on its objectives for artistic quality and excellence, increased visibility, significant growth in visitor numbers, and genuine engagement with education, communities and businesses.

It is an exciting time to join Firstsite.  2016 will see delivery across three main strands covering Exhibitions; Film and Music; and Education.  It will also promote its talent, facilities (which include exhibition halls, a live streaming and film auditorium, conference and learning rooms) and volunteering capabilities to ensure that the local community, with its unique blend of diversity and interests, has an opportunity to engage, learn and be part of the success that Firstsite will undoubtedly deliver.

Firstsite has a vision that is new and an approach that is fresh.  It now needs individuals who will embrace the new direction and, working with the Board of Trustees and Advisory Panels, execute the Business Plan for 2016 and beyond.  Critical to the Business Plan is the appointment of a Head of Development & Communications to oversee the income generating function; develop communications with the press and media; maintain relationships with external funders; and to provide regular information to key stakeholders.

Applicants that have a passion for the Arts, want to be part of an organisation that puts local, regional and community engagement at its heart and shares our aspirations for Firstsite to deliver upon its potential, are now invited to apply. If you have a strong background in developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies; and demonstrable experience in managing fundraising activities with excellent budgetary, financial and people management stills, please do make contact.

In the first instance, please send your CV and a covering letter to Lorraine Begg, Executive Assistant at Friary West, our HR Advisors,  Please note that Firstsite is an Equal Opportunity Employer and recognises the great benefits in having a diverse workforce with different backgrounds. The closing date for applications is 17 December 2015.
