Since its founding in 1880, the Guildhall School has stood as a vibrant showcase of the City of London Corporation’s commitment to education & the arts, and we are one of the world’s pre-eminent conservatoires & drama schools. We have a unique performance & learning partnership with Europe’s largest arts & conference venue, the Barbican Centre, & its resident orchestra, the world-class London Symphony Orchestra, & are also the largest provider of specialist music education at the under-18 level in the UK.

We are now seeking a new Principal to build on & enhance this exceptional legacy, to act as a global advocate for the School & to lead us through the next stage of our development. Building positive relationships will be central to success, as will deep insights into the needs of students, world-leading creative academics & young performers in the 21st century.

Successful candidates will be distinguished cultural or educational leaders, who can balance artistic & academic excellence with pragmatic decision-making & political astuteness. Our Principal will also be an inspirational communicator, able to foster an innovative, inclusive & collaborative culture that keeps us at the forefront of cultural & academic excellence.
