One Collection; the Science Museum Group’s new collection management project

The Science Museum Group cares for an incredible collection of 425,000 objects related to science, technology, engineering and medicine on behalf of the nation. This collection is astonishing, inspiring and filled with historic items waiting to be discovered.
We have embarked on an ambitious project to transform how we care for and share this remarkable collection with the world. This once-in-a-generation project will dramatically improve public access to many thousands of historic items, enabling you to explore more of the collection than ever before. This ambitious project will revolutionise public access to one of the most significant scientific collections in the world.
We will create a new home for the Science Museum Group Collection which opens regularly to the public, and study, digitise and relocate over 300,000 historic objects to the National Collections Centre in Wiltshire. Most importantly we will engage local and global audiences with the collection’s incredible stories of human ingenuity.
